The church
The ex-monastery of the Augustinian Order of Almenno was built in response to the open will of the people as it was expressed in a "public and general Council" that was held October 29, 1486, by the representatives of the neighborhoods of "Almenno di Sotto" (Lower Almenno), "Almenno Superiore" (Upper Almenno), and "La Porta" (The Gate).
The instrument
The instrument is located in the choir, above the fifth chapel on the right of the aisle, supported from below by two walled-up beams covered with decorated panels. Above the choir, the organ front with closed doors appears as a big wooden niche...
Costanzo Antegnati
Born in Brescia in 1549, Costanzo Antegnati became the most famous and authorative representative of the noble dynasty of Brescian organ makers, who were active in Northern Italy from the end of the 15th to the second half of the 17th century. Antegnati was introduced to the family business at a very early age, so that he was able to substitute his father Graziadio at only twenty years, when he was already able, as a constructor, to emulate "his predecessors in knowledge and skill".
